This Day in Baptist History
and other books authored by Dr. David L. CumminsThe Bible Makes Us Baptists
FOREWORD "Well done, Dr. Cummins!"
This was my immediate reaction after reading the manuscript for this book. Within a small compass, the author has crammed a great deal of information which is vital to understanding the position and work of Baptist missions. This hook ought to receive a wide reading audience among fundamental, separatist Baptists. It is written in such a manner that all kinds of people can profit by it—pastors, missionaries, students, lay people, etc. It is scholarly, but not stuffy, understandable but not frothy. It should also prove to be a help to missions committees, deacons, and other church leaders.
The separatist position, to some, represents merely human reaction to circumstances. They do not see nor understand the theological and Biblical principles involved. Separatism rests upon clear scriptural mandates, and the author points this out in this brief history of Baptist missions. I was, frankly, astonished at all the historic material Dr. Cummins was able to gather and then present in such a concise manner.
May God speed it on its way and use its contents to strengthen the cause of Baptist missions everywhere.
